
The board approved a memorandum of agreement with the National Bank of Montpelier that makes the financial institution the depository for public monies.
The board approved a Flagstar Bank Investment policy that provides guidelines to where the treasurer can invest township money within a financial institution. There is a pictorial display of road projects that have occurred during the past four years at the township hall that is available for the public to observe during regular township board meetings. The board will be seeking requests for proposals from consulting firms for lift station renovation/replacement and discharge measuring device. The estimated cost is $1,100 and on-site training will be provided by the manufacturer. The board approved a gas meter that is needed when entering sewer system areas of confinement at Lake Diane and Merry Lake. Funds are used to maintain and improve township roads. The resolution would be a renewal of the 2 mill road millage that recently expired. Board members approved the placement of Resolution 4 of 2008 on the November 2008 ballot. The 2008 Gravel Road project is close to being finished. The Hillsdale County Road Commission’s portion of the Grass Lake Road project came in under budget at $26,550.
Bob Godfrey of the Hillsdale County Road Commission reported that the Territorial Road bridge has been completed ahead of schedule.
Zoning Enforcement Officer George Berg and Township Trustee Tom Evans will attend a meeting to learn about civil infractions, which will allow Berg to issue tickets for zoning offenses. Township Supervisor Bill Vincent assured residents that the township board is listening to their concerns, but they can’t make any decisions until the survey is completed. Residents expressed their worries by the individual costs for the system, especially in current economic times. More than 40 people attended the meeting to voice their concerns of the potential sewer system in Hillsdale, Cambria and Reading townships.
